Dear Lord,
I will listen for your voice
giving me instructions,
and then
I will learn to have
A Heart that Forgives...
Note: Lyrics are posted at the bottom of the page.
No weapon formed against me will prosper.
Isaiah 54:17
Unforgiveness is a weapon formed against me.
It wants to keep me in chains.
But Jesus can break the chains!
The devil wants everyone to live
every day
in
Unforgiveness.
-
But God says to each of us ...
Submit yourself to the Lord
and
resist the devil
and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
-
Consider our page on James 4:7
-
When you read the Bible with a teachable heart,
your mind becomes
more and more
and you begin to think
more and more
like Jesus thinks.
In Ephesians chapter 6,
God gave us
The Armor of God
in order
for us to
Experience VICTORY!
Below is Prayer # 2 -
Our Main Power Prayer
Consider copying this prayer and
saying this prayer
every day.
Almighty God of Miracles,
I come before you to put on your Miraculous armor.
I declare that I will walk as an
Overcomer
through the
Power of
my Savior and Lord - Jesus Christ.
I pick up the Helmet of Salvation.
As I put on Your Helmet of Salvation,
I proclaim that
Your
Power and Saving Grace
are enabling me to be saved from anger and unforgiveness.
By the power of Jesus Christ, I am letting go of anger and unforgiveness and all other attitudes and emotions that are not godly.
I will continue to let go until they are all gone - no matter if it takes a period of time.
I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness.
Lord, Your Breastplate of Righteousness guides me to right living.
Thank you for guiding my heart toward right choices - choices to be merciful ... choices to forgive.
I will forgive so that my heart can dwell with you in purity.
I put on the Shoes of Peace.
Your Shoes of Peace
will help me overcome and heal from
all the unpleasant feelings and thoughts of the past.
I want to receive more of your peace.
I will learn to yield to you and allow
Your Peace
to guide my thoughts and my feelings each day.
I will practice thinking
kind, peaceful thoughts
about __________.
(Fill in the blank with the name of the person you want to forgive.)
I put on the Belt of Truth.
Allowing God to help me
Face Truth
brings triumphant transformations.
It is important for me
to remember the following Truth -
The
TRUTH
IS
that
the POWER of God
is available to
help me to forgive.
I pick up the Shield of Faith.
I pick up
Faith
that
your love, your mercy, and your forgiveness
will begin
to triumph and reign
in my mind, my heart, and my feelings each day.
I pick up the Sword of the Spirit
which is the Word of God.
Lord,
I am beginning to see
that unforgiveness is being used
by the devil's forces
as a weapon formed against me.
Your Sword is My WEAPON
against them.
Today,
I pick up my sword and declare that
I will defeat unforgiveness.
I will be
Victorious
because Isaiah 54:17
tells me that
"No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
I will receive
Strength to Forgive
because
Psalm 138:3 TLB, tells me that,
"When I pray,
you answer me
and encourage me
by giving me the strength I need."
I will become
Strong, Mighty, and Victorious
through Your POWER
and
for Your Glory.
I declare that
The Word of God
will
Transform me in
POWERFUL
WAYS!
In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus teaches us the
Lord's Prayer.
In verse 12, Jesus teaches us to pray these words,
"Forgive us our sins,
as
We forgive those who sin against us."
Heavenly Father,
I know that you want me to forgive.
I will obey your Scriptures that tell me to forgive.
Every day, I will make progress
in becoming more merciful and more forgiving.
I pray these things
in the Powerful and Life-Changing name of
Jesus Christ,
Amen

I am getting
STRONG
in the Lord.
Philippians 4:13
teaches me
that
"I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me."
-
I CAN Forgive!
Forgiveness is God's will.
Mark 11:25 NKJV
says,
And whenever you stand praying,
if you have anything against anyone, forgive him,
that your Father in heaven
may also forgive you your trespasses.
Ephesians 4:32 NKJV
says,
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you.
Colossians 3:13 and Matthew 6:14-15
are also strong verses that teach us to forgive.
Consider writing the scriptures
found on this page,
on index cards
and reading them "out-loud" each day.
(Out - loud is more powerful than silently.)
-
If you like hymns,
consider listening to the song
"I Surrender ALL."
-
Copy
and read each day
anything
on this page that
motivates you toward forgiveness.
-
Make a weekly chart of things
( like prayers, Scriptures, songs )
that motivate you to forgive.
Put a box beside each one
for each day
of the week.
Each day, after you complete one of them,
color in the box with a beautiful color.
If you have 7 items,
you may only do 1 or 2 of them today,
but 1 or 2 is still helpful.
Seeing the boxes filled in with vibrant colors
is
motivating.
The colored boxes will remind you
and motivate you
that
YOU HAVE
accomplished something for the Lord
even if
your forgiveness is not complete yet.
You might want to list each Scripture
on the chart separately.
So
4 Scriptures means 4 colored boxes.
I thank a visitor for that last suggestion.
Patricia posted a similar idea on our
"Prayers for Depression" page.

Lord,
I yield to you
so you can
Reign in me!
Lord,
Your word says in
Luke 6:27-28
that you want me to
So,
I will learn how to pray for my enemies.
Amen!
Seek the Lord and his strength,
seek his face continually.

Studies show that people who forgive are happier and healthier than those who hold resentments.
The
first study to look at: How forgiveness improves physical health -
discovered that when people think about forgiving an offender it leads
to improved functioning in their cardiovascular and nervous systems.
Another
study at the University of Wisconsin found the more forgiving people
were, the less they suffered from a wide range of illnesses. The less
forgiving people reported a greater number of health problems.
In
three separate studies, including one with Catholics and Protestants
from Northern Ireland whose family members were murdered in the
political violence, it is found that people who are taught how to
forgive become less angry, feel less hurt, are more optimistic, become
more forgiving in a variety of situations, and become more compassionate
and self-confident.
These studies show a reduction in experience of stress, physical manifestations of stress, and an increase in vitality.
Forgiveness is indeed very powerful and also excellent for one's health and general well-being.
It has many benefits especially for those who are depressed.
Ephesians 6:10-13 KJV
says,
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Continue with verse 14 - for each piece of armor!
A Heart That Forgives
Kevin Levar
I want a heart that forgives
A heart full of love
One with compassion just like yours above.
One that overcomes evil with goodness and love
Like it never happened, never holding a grudge.
I want a heart that forgives that lives and lets live.
One that keeps loving over and over again.
One that men can't offend
because your word is deep within.
One that loves without price like you Lord Jesus Christ.
I want a heart that loves everybody
Even my Enemies.
I want to love like you, be like you, just like you did.
I want a heart that forgives.
I want a heart that forgives
When the ones that are closest and that I've known the longest hurt me the most;
I still wanna love them just like you loved me
Even though I'm hurting.
I want a heart that forgives
when the pain is so deep and it's so hard to speak
about it to any one.
Just like your son, I give up my rights
to hold it against them with hatred inside.
I want a heart that loves everybody, even my Enemies.
I wanna love like you, be like you, just like you did.
Wanna walk like you, talk like you, just like you did. Wanna be like you, live like you
Just like you did.
Cause a heart that forgives is the heart that will live, totally free from the pain of the past and the heart that lets go is the heart that will know
so much freedom.
Lord, I wanna let it go. God, I need to let it go.
Lord, its been holding me back
and I don't want it...... I don't want it. I don't want it no more.
I don't know exactly what to do to get rid of it,
but - here I am Lord Jesus. Here I am Oh, Here I am Lord Jesus. Oh,
Lord, I need you. I need you. I know. This is me you are talking to. This is me. This is me. This is me. Lord, this is me.
Lord, I let it go every person every person that has ever hurt me. I gotta let it go
every single hurt,
gotta let it go
every single pain. Gotta let it go.
I let it go. I let it go.
Lord, you can have - Lord you can have it -
Lord you can have it. Lord, you can have it.
You can have it now. You can have it now.
Cause I don't want it, Lord.
