Inspirational Prayer for Patience
that ministers to
your situation and to your emotions.
Calmness while Waiting for God
We are all waiting on God for something. We need endurance while we wait. The first prayer section is written for patience while we wait.
Becoming Even Tempered
We all need to use restraint as we daily deal with difficult people and frustrating situations. The second prayer section is written for developing greater serenity as we face daily irritations and aggravations.
Upon the Lord
we will wait.
Chris Tomlin
Heavenly Father,
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Your Word teaches me wisdom and fills me with newness of life.
As I come to you today, I bring my needs to you. Help me to lay down all my problems at your feet. Help me to lay down all my tangled thoughts and restless emotions.
Lord, I am seeking your peace and your patience. I want to learn to wait patiently for you to bring your answers to my prayers. I want to cooperate with your plans for me. Thank you for assuring me that your plans for me are good.
As I wait on you, I will continue to turn to your Word for comfort and direction. Your Word is solid and reliable.
Your Word steadies me. Your Word brings me truth. Your Word gives me strength. Your Word chases away my worry and my fears. Your Word refreshes me.
Thank you for your Word.
Amen

First Prayer for an Even Temper
Lord,
Here I am facing a new day. I know that without yielding to your calmness and contentment, I will succumb to frustration and irritation.
I seek your help today.
Make me more aware of my emotions and my attitudes. Remind me that I have control over the attitudes that I choose to present to the world.
Remind me that I can learn to overcome every challenging situation today by putting on the shoes of peace and displaying an even temper.
Remind me to show kindness.
Give me more ability to receive your love and give it away to others today.*
Help me to work hard and do my best. But help me to care more about loving others than I care about getting tasks done.
Lord, I want to grow spiritually this day. I want to be more Christ-like tonight when I go to bed than when I got up this morning.
Today I will focus on developing the Fruit of the Spirit instead of pleasing myself.
Today I will thank you, Lord, for leading me toward love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Today I will praise you, Lord, and I will celebrate your love for me.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Second Prayer for an Even Temper
Almighty God,
You are amazing and awesome. You are great and glorious. You are powerful, and you do impossible things.
I come to you and pray that you would transform me so that I enjoy the beauty of patience.
May I become the patient person that you are leading me to be.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Patience
is one of the
9 Fruit of the Spirit
listed in Galatians 5:22.
Some people think that if they don't pray for patience
(for God to increase their patience),
then
they will not have to grow in this area.
-
However, the truth is that God wants to increase
patience
in every person's life.
God stirs us to grow in this area,
even if we don't ask him for it.
