is from our new page:
Dear Lord,
I need to submit to your will.
I need to lay down, and walk away, from the things in my life that do not line up with your biblical truth.
I need to conquer myself.
I need to use wisdom when making godly decisions.
I need to use self-control in order to follow you closely.
Help me, Lord.
I am determined to learn to yield to your will.

When Trouble comes:
We now have plenty of time for God.
~
We now have time to pray to him
and
read his word.
~
We now let nothing
distract us or entice us away from God.

We realize how desperate we are for God to save us.

We begin to see
Who or What

Part 2 of the topic:
Have a Problem?
-
In 2 Chronicles chapter 20,
God's people were facing an impending battle.
The Lord guided them to send out the singers
to give praise to God
BEFORE the battle.
~
Perhaps we need to do some singing and praising
before we tackle difficult situations!
(See our new Praise page.)
Praise can eliminate our problems or reduce the severity of our problems.
And wholehearted praise will certainly elevate our emotions!
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

Important Reflection
I will not fear facing sin in my life.
I will not fear facing - any kind of sin - in my life.
Why?
Because it is - in love - that God convicts me.
And when I repent, he forgives me, and guides me toward right living.
What DO I fear?
I will fear the consequences of what sin wants to do in my life.
And I will fear what it wants my sin to do in the life of my loved ones.
"Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you.
But you must subdue it and be its master."
Genesis 4:7 b NLT
If we follow sin, we will eat sin's bitter fruits.
Let's Read God's Word.
His Word makes us uncomfortable with sin.
And it strengthens us so that we will make right choices.
Let's Pray.
Prayer creates miraculous changes in our life.

What would you do?
About 20 years ago I became concerned about my health, and made an appointment with the doctor several days in the future. I knew that what was going on could be life-threatening.
Within moments of realizing that this was extremely serious, I began to think, “What if I only have a few weeks to live? What would I do differently if I knew I’d meet the Lord soon?”
God had been talking to me a lot about spiritual growth. So I decided that no matter what the doctor would say, I should take this as a turning point in my life. I knew this situation was giving me the opportunity to really think about facing death – which results in facing God - face to face.
So I began to pray and ask myself,
“What would I do differently
if I knew I’d meet the Lord in a few days?”
It really blessed my life to seriously think about that question.
That question clears up lots of things in our life.
That question will clarify and re-direct our life in a wonderful way.
I asked the Lord to show me how to walk arm in arm with him so
I would be ready at any time to meet him. At
the time, I was saved and loved God very much. Yet I still wisely used this experience to motivate me to come closer to God and become more obedient.
The story ended nicely. When the doctor first saw me, he was alarmed. But after tests, he said that I was going to be fine. Soon I was better than ever - both physically and spiritually.
That experience changed my life – for the better.
Yesterday, I was reminded of that experience when I was thinking about Pentecost coming up in a few days.
The Jewish Feast of Pentecost is coming in a few days. You
may remember that Pentecost was the birth of the Church. It was on that day
that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to the believers and fire appeared over their
heads. Then they began to talk in languages that they had never learned. (The book of Acts chapter 2.)
You may not realize that the day of Pentecost (Sivan 6 on the Jewish calendar) was also the day that God came to personally speak to Moses and the people of Israel. Three days before Sivan 6 of that year, God told Moses that he wanted all the people to prepare themselves for having a visit with him. God said that for three days (Sivan 3-6) the people should prepare themselves and wash their clothes. That is Exodus 19:9-10.
We have three days before Sivan 6 which is the Jewish feast of Pentecost – and the birth of the church. God nudged me to prepare myself in those three days – to make sure I am ready to meet him at any moment. I knew he meant this in the same way that he talked to me all those years ago when I thought I may be close to death. That was a beautiful time – and this will be a beautiful time.
I decided that it would be a blessing to me to treat the days leading up to Pentecost as a time of purifying and drawing ever closer to God.
I am making this a precious time of realizing that I could meet God at any time so I need to think about:
“What would I do differently
if I knew I would meet the Lord in three days?”
That question is a blessed question. That question clears up lots of things in our life. That question simplifies our life and re-directs our life.

May 21, 2015 - Another entry today
In the Midst
I find myself “in the midst” a lot – in the midst of difficulty, in the midst of confusion, in the midst of trouble, in the midst of -----
Today I was cleaning the kitchen, and I noticed I was singing.
I was singing a song I had never heard. Actually it was more like a little chorus. I kept singing these words over and over, “I will praise you in the midst. I will praise you in the midst. I will praise you, Lord, in the midst.”
It has been months since I thought about the words “in the midst.”
As I drew my attention to what was happening, I realized that the Holy Spirit was giving me a song to remind me to praise him EVEN when I am in the midst.
The Holy Spirit was leading me today.
Perhaps this little devotion will be – not only for me – but for you as well.

Happy New Year to Everyone!
This year I am giving the New Year a word for 2015:
Courage
This year I am praying that we as Christians will stir up courage and determination to grow strong in the Lord.
It is time for Christians to make more of a difference in our families and in our world.
As we grow spiritually stronger, our friends and family will see the difference, and we can make a greater impact for the Lord.
I am reminded that God called me to be a godly leader not an ungodly follower of the world. So I am going to look at my life and see where I need to be a stronger Christian. And I am going to stir up courage and determination to make it happen. What about you?
During the month of December

A Thanksgiving Idea
And if
you have children or grandchildren - it will also bless them!
For this holiday season, every morning read Psalm 92:1-2a
and then at night read Psalm 92:1-2
completing the second verse.
See example below:
Morning:
It is good to say, "Thank you" to the Lord, to sing
praises
to the God who is above all gods.
Every morning tell him, "Thank
you for your kindness."
Psalm 92:1-2a TLB
Evening:
It is good to say, "Thank you" to the Lord, to sing
praises
to the God who is above all gods.
Every morning tell him, "Thank
you for your kindness"
and every evening
rejoice in all his faithfulness.

Jesus gave us a prayer pattern when he gave us the Lord’s Prayer. Many of us pray it “word for word” remembering that Jesus said this prayer was a great model prayer. However, some people also use it as a pattern, and they pray that pattern with their own personalized words.
A few years ago I realized that Psalm 100 has a prayer pattern in it. I wrote about that pattern on a page called Thanksgiving Bible Study.
This morning I was given another prayer pattern.
This morning as soon as I woke up, I began talking to God. During our conversation, I was excitedly talking about two miracles he had done for me in the past couple of days. I said, “God, thank you for such and such, and thank you for such and such.”
I heard in my head, “For His mercy endureth forever.”
I knew immediately what God was trying to tell me. A few days ago, I posted a page on Psalm 136. In every verse of Psalm 136, there is a thought and then there are the words “For His mercy endureth forever.”
I had not consciously realized that this was a prayer pattern that God was giving to us to use in our personal prayers – until today!
Now with my new understanding, I began to thank God for one thing after another - and after each thing, I said, “For His mercy endureth forever.” I thanked him for things he had done recently, and I thanked him for things he had done in my past. I thanked him for family and friends. I thanked and thanked.
I learned a long time ago, that if I wanted to stay close to God, I needed to add lots of thankfulness into my relationship with God. And today I was stirred up with thankfulness.
Examples of the pattern:
Before I end this entry, I am leaving an invitation for you to visit the Psalm 136 page. On that page, I explain that the word “mercy” holds a lot of meaning. Click: Psalm 136

Your

I receive my mission to love people this day. I receive my mission to be helpful toward their needs, compassionate toward their hurts, encouraging toward their trials, enthusiastic toward their victories, warm toward their presence, and forgiving toward their mistakes and sins.
Change my heart, Lord. Teach me to be more like you.
I will yield to you this day.

What does it mean to "follow" Jesus?
Matthew, Mark, and Luke give the following quote:
Then Jesus said to His disciples,
"If anyone wishes to come after Me,
he must deny himself and
take up his cross and follow Me."
Matthew 16:24-25
Mark 8:34
Luke 9:23
So, what does it mean to "follow" Jesus?
Think of spiritually being "duct-taped" to Jesus.
If I duct-taped you to a person,
you would go everywhere that person went.
You would never wander off.
We need to be spiritually duct-taped to Jesus.
If a person is duct-taped to Jesus,
he or she wouldn't take illegal drugs
or have sex before marriage,
or ______________.
Jesus told us to "follow" Him -
so
Let's get out the duct tape!

Matthew Fontaine Maury
was the Father of Oceanography
Matthew Fontaine Maury took the Bible literally.
As he was reading his Bible, he read Psalm 8:8.
Be sure and read it in the King James Version.
Maury had faith in God and in the Bible. He took the Bible seriously. He took the Bible so seriously that he spent countless hours seeking to find the "paths" in the oceans. This led to his mapping of the currents in 1855.
Maury became famous
and helped all mankind
because he believed the Bible.
Also read Isaiah 43:16.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego
walked out of the fiery furnace, and they
didn't even smell like smoke.
In the third chapter of Daniel, we find ourselves in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden statue that he wanted everyone to worship. Anyone who didn't worship the image would be thrown into a burning furnace.
In verse 12, we find out that three Jewish men - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego - refused to bow to the image or to any of the foreign gods. King Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown into the furnace and had the furnace turned up hotter than usual. Yet a miracle occurred, and they were not burned. And a fourth person was seen in the flames! The Lord saved them from the fire.
When King Nebuchadnezzar saw that the three men were not burned, he took them out of the furnace.
At this point, as if the story was not magnificent enough, we find in verse 27, the amazing fact that the three men had none of their hair singed (scorched), nor their garments touched by the fire, and even the smell of smoke was not on them.
The three men walked out of the trial without any reminders of the difficulties that could have been a part of this earthly trial.
Application
There are many applications that a person could get from this story. The one I want to highlight is taken from the fact that: there was no sign that they had been in a fire, including the fact that they didn't even smell like smoke.
God wants us to be able to go through trials and troubles and when He takes us out of them, we are not left with any smoke on us. We are not left with bitterness, anger, resentment, vengeful thoughts, unhealed emotions, etc.
God wants us to be able to testify to God's grace through the trial without also smelling like smoke. People can easily smell our bitterness, anger, resentment, etc.
When God rescues us from a trial, He wants us to exit the trial free of any negative things that have tried to attach to us. To God, handling the trial is not just getting through it. He wants us to get through it with our character deepened and our heart more gentle and tender than when we entered the trial.
He wants us to be free of negative emotions toward other people and toward him. He wants us to walk in the freedom of forgiveness, and in the fruit of the spirit - Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
That is going to take some work on our part. For one thing, most of us will have to learn HOW
to pray for our enemies and how to forgive them. I have written a page
called Praying for our Enemies which addresses this concept. It will help you to work on your
emotions while going through a trial and coming out of a trial. I also
have several pages on how to forgive. You might want to start with a week-long devotional on forgiving. See the Bible Devotion page for all of the forgiving pages.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord
and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-11 NKJV
Napoleon I
An encyclopedia speaks about Napoleon I in this way:
“He developed a principle of war that formed the basis of his future campaigns. He learned to seek a weak point in the enemy’s line and throw all his strength against it at the decisive hour of battle. With that point broken or weakened, the enemy collapsed.”
That sounds like the battle plans of
the satanic forces that come against us.
God tells us in Ephesians chapter 6 that we need his armor in order to be victorious over the enemy forces that come against us. The pieces of armor are given in verses 13-17.
Lord of all Power and Might,
Today we come to you to ask you to bring us wisdom for our mind, determination for our will, and uplift for our emotions.
We proclaim that we will put on your mighty armor today.
We declare that
we will be strong against the enemy forces that come to attack - or
distract - us today.
Amen

Have you been wondering the following questions:
"What is going on in this world?
Why is sin getting so accepted?"
~
The Progression of Rebellion against God:
First we - Practice our Sin
Then we - Defend our Sin
Then we - Boast about our Sin.
author unknown
That is the progression of Rebellion against God.
Many of us in the U.S.A. wonder what is going on
in our country.
The Answer:
It is the Progression of Rebellion against God
that explains what is going on in our country.
There
has always been sin in our country.
But years ago almost everyone in
our country respected God
too much to defend their sin or boast about their sin.
When I was young, people practiced their sin, but they did not defend their sin nor did they boast about their sin.
The Downward Spiral
The first step I saw was that people began to defend their sin. They defended their sin, but they did not boast about their sin. At this point, whenever people sinned, they were still embarrassed about it, but they found ways to defend what they were doing.
We can always "prove" we are right
but is the Lord convinced.
Proverbs 16:2 TLB
I remember thinking years ago, "The national pastime is not baseball, it is rationalizing sin."
Today
I look at my country and see that people are now
not just practicing their sin
(without true godly repentance), and they are not just defending their sin,
they are boasting of their sin.
-
The U.S. is at the third stage of rebellion - Boasting of sin.
Boasting about sin indicates a hard heart toward God.
Today people do not just want you to accept their sin, they want you to endorse their sin.
They want to control what you say AND how you think.
The
sins of my country are many. In fact the Bible says that we all sin and
fall short of the glory of God. I sin and fall short. But I have had as
a goal in my life, that when I sin, I will not defend it nor boast
about it. Sometimes I feel embarrassed
when I sin and fall short, but I have decided to put as part of my character that I
WILL face my sins. I will not ignore them or pretend God doesn't care. I care more about my relationship with God than I care about covering my sins.

"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes."
Psalm 101:3a KJV
Today I'm reminding us to examine ourselves in this area.
(Psalm 139:23-24 and 2 Corinthians 13:5-7)
Are we pleasing God by what we view?
Hollywood is becoming full of Satanic - occult images, music, and activities.
Sexual pictures and videos are easily found in our entertainment.
Movies and television shows that portray ungodly themes including ungodly sexuality are becoming more prevalent.
And it seems that Christians are becoming less careful about what we view.
"Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -
meditate on these things."
Philippians 3:8 NKJV
1 John 2:15 reminds us that Christians are not to love the world or the things in the world.
Ephesians 5:3 TLB reminds us, "Let there be no sex sin, impurity or greed among you. Let no one be able to accuse you of any such things. Dirty stories, foul talk and coarse jokes - these are not for you."
Matthew 16:24 reminds us that Jesus told us to pick up our cross and deny ourselves.
Most of our churches have forgotten to teach our children that one of the reasons Jesus came was to encourage us and teach us how to become more holy. Jesus frequently taught on holiness.
Jesus didn't just teach on popular Christian themes. In John 6:66, almost all the crowd left him because they didn't like what he was teaching.
Would you pray with me?
Dear God,
Give me a wake-up call today about the things that I have been viewing and listening to that are not godly.
Remind me that I cannot follow the world and follow you also.
Remind me that you want me to become more and more like Jesus.
Amen

Knowing a little Hebrew increases our understanding.
There are three ways in Hebrew to say that someone is THE BEST.
If you want to say that someone is the best carpenter, you could say it three ways:
In the first instance, you use the word "of."
For example, we say Jesus is:
The King of Kings - That means he is the highest King.
The second instance, you use the word "the."
Jesus is The Savior - That means Jesus is the highest Savior.
The third instance, you say a word three times:
The Lord is Holy, Holy, Holy - That means the Lord is the most holy.
Example # 1 See Deuteronomy 10:17

The thoughts below are from a letter to the editor
found in a newspaper in Georgia many years ago.
I cut the letter out and kept it,
because I thought it made some important points.
I hope you consider this a worthwhile and helpful blog entry
for yourself -
if you struggle with the concept of a loving God allowing evil
or perhaps for someone that you know -
who is struggling with his or her concept of a loving God.
Fiend or Friend
Editor: I get it. Either God prevents all atrocity or he is a fiend.
But since he doesn’t cause these cruelties, he’s at least a benign fiend, right?
His actual fiendishness, then, is that he gave us free will, so that we are capable of bad acts.
And the flip side is that we’re also capable of good acts. So he lets us grow if we choose, but fiendishly fails to provide constant intervention to make everything perfect, which would relegate us to the status of robot angels. Which, to some, would seem really fiendish.
I guess one man’s fiend is another man’s friend.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the power of prayer.
Thank you that my prayers lasso the power of God.
My prayers are energized by the very Holy Spirit that produced this world.
Grant me a new, fresh season of prayer in my life.
May my prayers be spoken containers that hold the essence of your heart.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Psalm 103:1a KJV
In Psalm 103, we are taught to say, "Bless the Lord, O my soul."
My soul is my mind, my will, and my emotions.
To bless the Lord with my mind, I must think about God, read the Bible, and pray to God.
To bless the Lord with my will, I must be obedient to God.
To bless the Lord with my emotions, I must work on self-control. I need to stir up godly emotions and take control over ungodly emotions. I need to be aware that many things can powerfully pull at my emotions.
The
people I choose to be around,
The circumstances that I allow in my life, and
The entertainment that I choose
will greatly affect
My emotions,
and
My mind, and My will.

We can always "prove" that we are right,
but is the Lord convinced?
Proverbs 16:2 TLB
I memorized that scripture many years ago, and many times remembering it has kept me from wrong paths.
Many times as I am talking with the Lord, I realize that I am trying to convince God to see things my way. I'm trying to prove that I'm right. It is at that moment that I realize that my thoughts and my actions need to change to be pleasing to God.
It is supposed to be about God convincing me, not me convincing God.

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of
Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.
Psalm 145:5 NKJV
Lord of all Creation,
You are the author of all that is beautiful.
Delicate butterflies dancing among fragrant flowers - you made them.
Strong oak trees towering over blades of gentle green grass - you made them.
You watchfully reign over all your creation.
Your creativity astounds me.
Your variety delights me.
As I meditate on the beauty and the wonder of creation, I am refreshed.
As I meditate on the vastness and splendor of the universe, I am humbled.
You are above all and over all.
Keep me ever close to your heart, for I have chosen you as my first love.

Some people say that
God is in Control and Nothing you do matters.
-
I encourage you to keep that in mind and
review it after reading the following:
I heard someone say recently during a Bible teaching:
"In our company we were having a lot of accidents. So we wrote and
posted some safety rules. Since then, the accident rate has gone down.
Some people say that God is in control and nothing we do matters. But I
say that it is interesting that after we posted the
safety rules, God's will was that less people get hurt."

This entry is a response to the new Noah movie.
Jesus said, "Take up your cross and follow me."
Did Jesus really mean that we would have to suffer sometimes for our faith?
Did he really mean we might have to stay home instead of going to a popular movie?
Matthew 16:24-25 NKJV
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me."
Mark 8:34 NKJV
"And He [Jesus] summoned the crowd with His disciples and said to them, 'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.'"
Luke 9:23 NKJV
"And He [Jesus] was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily
and follow Me."
The cross represents a lifestyle. It is the willingness to follow Jesus in every way.
Many times each week we are tempted to entertain ourselves with things that mock the truth presented in the Bible.
~
The Bible tells us how to choose entertainment. It says:
"Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV
What would Jesus do?
Would he go to a movie that mocks the Bible?
Jesus gave his all for us.
I submit that our response is to pick up our cross and follow him.

Today is April 1, 2014. Today is “April Fool’s Day.”
This morning, I’ve been thinking about the terrible, horrible “April Fool’s” joke that the devil plays on many people.
Let me explain:
The devil spreads many lies about hell. He makes hell appear to be a party place where you spend eternity having fun with all your friends. He creates images of being free from all laws and morals. He plants the idea that hell is where everyone is able to do whatever he or she wants.
The devil doesn’t really care what he has to say or do to get people to end up in hell.
Many people, who do not read and believe the Bible, believe the lies of the devil.
I sadly think about the countless people who have
died and then discovered the horrible truth about where they are going to spend eternity. Many of those people were what we would call "good" people. But they never took seriously the words of the Bible.
There is only one way to heaven.
Some people get angry at God for only giving one way to get to heaven – which is through repenting of your sins and making Jesus your Savior and Lord of your life.
From my perspective, I’m just glad he made a way!
I am glad that God made a way for me to spend eternity with him in heaven.
I love God, and I have grown to love what he loves.
I look forward to going to heaven one day.
If you want to ponder more about this subject, I invite you to visit our page What is Heaven Really Like?
We also have a page to help you explain
this subject to your family and friends. It is called
Explaining Salvation to others.

Question:
What is Life all About?
Answer:
Amazing Grace
March 10, 2014
I'll live for Him,
Who died for me.
This morning, I found myself singing an old hymn that has a chorus that begins, "I'll live for Him, who died for me."
The older I get, the more I realize and appreciate the tremendous suffering that Jesus did when he died for me.
The love of Jesus is astonishing.
It makes me desire more and more to live for Jesus.
As time passes, I also gain a deeper understanding of the blessings that are mine through Christ Jesus. Of all my blessings, one of my most prized blessings is being a much-loved child of Father God.
One of my favorite scriptures is Ephesians 5:1.
Follow God's example in everything you do just as
a much-loved child imitates his father.
Ephesians 5:1 TLB
The Bible tells me over and over that God loves me.
God calls me his beloved child. That makes me feel very blessed.
If you need to feel like God's beloved child today, this site has several prayer pages that emphasize this.
Consider listening to the audio prayer on both the Prayers for Women and the Prayers for Men page. Also, consider visiting the pages called Intimacy with God and Father's Love.

God’s desire is that we truly know him.
He wants us to have a close relationship with him.
Today I am highlighting two verses from the book of Jeremiah:
The Lord says: Let not the wise man bask in his
wisdom,
nor the mighty man in his might, nor the rich man in his riches.
Let
them boast in this alone:
That they truly know me,
and understand that I am the
Lord of justice and
of righteousness whose love is steadfast; and that
I love
to be this way.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 TLB
I encourage you to consider reading that verse in other translations as you ponder the fact that God’s desire is for you to truly know him.

"You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever."
Psalm 16:11 NLT
After becoming a Christian, the next step is to develop a friendship with God. Yet, over the years, I have realized that most Christians know very little about "the joy of God's presence."
One of the main reasons this website exists is to share my closeness with God in hopes that it will help visitors to this site to have new ideas about how to come closer to God.
God wants us to experience the joy of his presence.
Psalm 16 talks about, "The pleasures of living with God forever." God wants us to think of it as a pleasure to live with him forever. God wants us to yearn for a closer walk with him. It is his plan that as we walk with him, he becomes our best friend.
All the prayers and Bible devotions on this site are presented because I think they help people to come closer to God and to find God's will for their life.
People tell me that some pages such as the Prayers for Women and Prayers for Men are especially good at that. I will also add that my new book for women was specifically written to show women how to have a great relationship with God. Note that the book was also designed to build the reader's self-esteem as she reads the book. (God wants all his children to have a healthy self-concept.)
For myself and the team here at Inspirational-Prayers, we pray for our visitors and ask God to help us write things that will bless their life.
Thank you for visiting.

My prayer for today:
Walking beside you, Jesus,
Trying to obey,
Walking beside you, Jesus,
In the dark and in the day.
This time, I’m not
asking,
To see a miracle,
Or to lay out all the things in life,
I’d like to see occur.
I just want to softly,
Come to you and say,
I will always love you,
In the dark and in the day.

The Words we Speak are Powerful.
About 10 years ago, I was going through a difficult time. One morning as I was getting ready for work, I spoke to the Lord - out loud - and I said, "Lord, I feel the satanic enemy forces today."
Then I continued getting ready. In a few minutes, I was putting on my make-up, and I suddenly realized I was singing a song.
The song was I feel Jesus.
(I have posted the song below.)
Immediately I realized that God wanted me to be singing that song because through the singing, I was conquering the satanic feelings.
Our God is an Awesome God!
Previously I had learned that God uses his scriptures
to change our circumstances. So I already knew that the Holy Spirit sometimes helps us in times of trouble
by reminding us of the Bible verses that we know.
And from the experience I had that day, it was very apparent that
sometimes the Holy Spirit also helps us
by using the songs that we know.
-
Speaking out truth changes things.
~
God tells us in his Word to speak out his scriptures
and that his scriptures will change things.
In Joshua 1:8 NKJV it says, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success."
The Hebrew word "meditate" in that verse means to: mutter, utter, talk, speak.
God wants us to speak out the scriptures.
In Proverbs 18:21 NKJV God tells us that, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
I feel Jesus.
While singing the song, I realized that speaking out faith and truth also changes things. As I was singing that song, I quit feeling the satanic forces, and I began to feel the presence of God.
The Words we Speak are Powerful.
Some of you might also like my Bible devotion called Power Words.
Will you sing with me? I feel Jesus in this place!

God is still healing people!
I heard this story and wanted to share it!
Joel Haler, a 20-year-old college student and pastor's son, was paralyzed for 4 months. All the doctors who saw him said they didn't know what to do for him.
But God does miracles.....
Joel was a Christian who had a mysterious sports injury and within hours became paralyzed. After 4 months, Joel had a dream that he thought was from God. It was about being healed, but the dream was mysterious. Then a four-year-old child walked up to him at church and told him he would walk on a Thursday.
Joel is now going around the country giving his miracle testimony, and he gives all the glory to God!
Here is part of the online newspaper article about his miracle:
It was Thursday, January 23, which made perfect sense to Joel. He had dreamt of a calendar that only said "J 23." He didn't know what to make of it until "a little boy at church, four years old, came up to me and says, you will walk on a Thursday," Joel recalled.
So the 20-year-old college student, who could only walk with the aid of a robot on Tuesday, was walking on his own on Thursday.
"This is all God. I'm just being used," he told a friend at the Y.
Or being tested.
He says you can't have a testimony without a test. The rainbow that morning may mean he passed with flying colors.
Eric Haler is pastor of New Covenant Worship Center in New Castle. I asked him who would be preaching this Sunday - he says Joel will be.
Cut and paste the following in order to read the story:

This weekend I was looking at videos on Youtube about my favorite television program.
It is a show called Sue Thomas FB Eye. It is the story of a deaf FBI agent who reads lips. The show is based on a real person who became deaf as a young child.
The real Sue Thomas gave her heart to Jesus at a young age.
It brings me joy that the television show honors Sue’s faith in God.
The show blends action, adventure, comedy, drama, and a thread of a
love story. It has it all. It is a great show for adults and teenagers. I feature it on the Christian Entertainment page on this site.
It is my joy to share with you the theme song video about the television show, and then below that, I share a video featuring the real Sue Thomas.

Today I was meditating on Psalm 23 - a psalm of comfort and encouragement.
Verse 4 got my attention. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
Several thoughts came to me today.
This verse is quoted many times at a funeral. I began to realize that the person who died is not the only one who walks through the valley of the shadow of death. As one who has dealt with many deaths of loved ones, I know that the people who love the deceased also walk through the valley of the shadow of death - the death of a loved one. They need the comfort and encouragement of their loving Lord. They need to learn how to receive help from their loving Lord.
I took note today that I could replace the word "death" with "sickness" or "depression" or "confusion" or "financial difficulty" or "joblessness" etc.
For example: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of sickness, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
No matter what we are going through - health issues, emotional issues, financial issues, relationship issues, job issues, etc. - God wants to help us become strong in him so that we do not fear, but instead, we trust him and learn how to glean from his overcoming power to walk through to victory.
I've posted some spiritual warfare pages on this site if you are interested.

Today I got up and worked on next week's "Daily Inspiration" page.
I was looking for some Youtube songs to go with the page, and somehow I began listening to Mark Lowry comedy on Youtube.
I didn't realize how much I needed some comedy today!
On one of the videos, Mark said something very profound.
Mark was talking about the crucifixion of Jesus. He said,
"Jesus said, 'I and the
Father are one.' And they crucified him. And his mother never opened
her mouth.
Do you realize that if I was being crucified in my
hometown for claiming
to be God, my mother would be pitching a fit?
She'd say, 'He's crazy, but don't kill him. He's a liar, but don't
kill him.
He's a lunatic, but don't kill him.'
But the silence of Mary
at the cross is such a great testimony
to the fact of who Jesus is."
In answer to Mark's comments, I say:
Wow! How true that is!
Yes, if anybody knew that Jesus had a virgin birth, it was Mary.
In my opinion,
Mark has given one of the best pieces of evidence we have that Jesus is
really God in human flesh.
~
I am putting one of Mark's videos below.
So if you need some comedy - listen up!
Mark Lowry quoted by permission - The quote is an exact quote of Mark Lowry. I sent a request to his staff asking to quote him. Within a few minutes, I was answered. So I have permission to quote Mark Lowry.
