The Breastplate of Righteousness

The Breastplate of Righteousness

is found in Ephesians chapter six.

This breastplate is part of the
Full Armor of God
that we are instructed to put on.

When we put on the Armor regularly,

we become stronger,

more powerful,

and amazingly unstoppable

against evil

in our daily walk.

Strong Christians

are

Victorious

Against Sin

-

We need to put on our armor and

become a mighty force

for God

in this world.

Put your armor on
daily
so you will be strong in the Lord.

God gives us the

Helmet of Salvation

Belt of Truth,

Breastplate of Righteousness,

Shoes of Peace Part 1
Shoes of Peace Part 2

Shield of Faith,

and

Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

The Breastplate of Righteousness

covers the Heart.

In talking about this piece of armor, I will emphasize the condition of our heart.

Is your heart healthy and strong?

A healthy and strong

spiritual heart

focuses on

loving and obeying God.

Most Christians do not look any different from people who are not Christians.

Most Christians are not victorious.

Most Christians cannot give a testimony of being victorious against sin in their life.

-

When I speak to groups

about the Full Armor of God,

I tell them that

putting on the Armor

is one of the most powerful things

that I have found to help me

become an overcoming Christian.

The Power of the Breastplate

When we put on the armor,

we are arming ourselves with power.

The Breastplate of Righteousness
speaks to our gratitude
that Jesus has given us His Righteousness.

Near the bottom of the page, I get specific about what Jesus did in order to give us His  Righteousness.

The Breastplate covers our heart.

The Breastplate of Righteousness

is Jesus covering our heart with HIS righteousness.

- -

We celebrate that!

Yet, if we want victory over sin

in our life,

we will need to pursue

righteousness in

OUR

day-to-day life.

Righteousness - in our life - is right living.

As we look to gain the benefits of the power of the

Breastplate of Righteousness

in our daily life,

we need to realize the following important key.....

God wants us to respect

the commands in the Bible that tell us to obey God.

~ ~ ~

God wants us to:

Awake to righteousness, and sin not.
1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV

~ ~ ~

God wants us to seek to be holy and righteousness.

Therefore, when putting on the

Breastplate of Righteousness,

it is wise to be thankful to Jesus for

giving us

HIS

righteousness

AND

it is also wise

to rededicate ourselves to

obeying God.

- -

Putting this piece of armor on

presents a perfect opportunity

to rededicate ourselves to

living a godly life.

As we begin to regularly put on

the Full Armor of God,

we can also

ponder the things in our heart

that are unlike Jesus -

the things that are ungodly and wrong.

As we begin to examine our heart
we gain the awareness
and the opportunity
to change our life.

Be cannot "beware" of yielding to a sin

that we are not "aware" we are doing.

God wants us victorious over sin.

-

At this point,

I am going to focus on a few specific sins

to make some important points

-

Jesus wants our heart protected
from evil things like
bitterness, resentment, anger, and unforgiveness.

We have to cooperate with Jesus
to keep those things out of our heart.

Most Christians have

unforgiveness, resentment, and bitterness

in their heart.

This results in many unexpected consequences.

Here are some of them:

This creates a hard heart.

This makes them weak and ineffective against other sins.

This hinders their ability to experience significant spiritual victory in their life.

This subtly affects all their relationships in a negative way.

This pulls them away from closeness with God.

This increases vulnerability to committing sin in their daily life.

This increases the likelihood of experiencing negative emotions.

This results in the peace of God feeling out of their reach.

This results in spiritual deception- it is harder for them to  recognize truth.

And for many, it results in becoming prodigal Christians.

It also often weakens their physical body and makes them more vulnerable to sickness and disease.

If unforgiveness, resentment, or bitterness

is present in our heart,

then that sin

can easily begin to create a stronghold in us.

RESULTS

Some of the Results

are:

Addictions, Anger problems,

Strife,

Broken relationships, and Emotional turmoil

Before we continue -

I will share that

this website has lots of pages

on the process of  Forgiving Others

and lots of pages on how to overcome various sins.

(See Bible Devotions and Prayer Page.)

~ ~ ~

People don't root out sin in their life because:

* They do not think sin is that important.

Or

* They do not know how to root it out.

My Prayer is that this page

- and other pages on this site -

will be used by God

to transform you into a

Powerful Christian.

If you already are, I pray that this page will

help you understand how to reach out to others and

help them become Powerful Christians!

Teach me to do Your will,

For You are my God;

Your Spirit is good.

Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Psalm 143:10
NKJV

God will teach us HOW to have VICTORY over sin,

if we will let him.

-

We must cooperate with him.

~ ~

When we humble ourselves
God brings us His mercy and power.

~

When we take that mercy and power
and
follow God's lead in our life,
things change!

Merciful Lord,

I want to be right with you.

I need to be right with you.

Forgive my lack of desire to go your way.

I repent and turn around.

Forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

Thank you for a fresh start today.

I will follow you today!

Amen

What Jesus did  - to give us HIS Righteousness

This section gives background

into what Jesus did for us

so that we could receive HIS Righteousness.

Jesus came to earth to live a sinless life and then die for our sins.

When Jesus died on the cross,
he was exchanging his righteousness for our sins.

His righteousness includes
his  sinlessness, his holiness, and his purity.

He exchanged his righteousness
for our unrighteousness.

If we will receive Jesus as our Savior - AND Lord - then we are given the righteousness of Christ. See 2 Corinthians 5:21.

When we talk about righteousness in our life, it can be thought of as Right Living.

We put on the Righteousness of Christ. In doing that, Jesus wants us to also put on Right Living.

By accepting Jesus as our LORD,
we accept his lifestyle.

We accept the assignment of
seeking to follow Jesus and live as he would live.

We will not be perfect in our actions, thoughts, emotions, and attitudes.

But because we love Jesus, we do seek to be righteousness.

Jesus said

"If you love me, you will obey me."

John 14:15 and John 14:23

"Be perfect,
even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Matthew 5:48

 --

In the original language

Matthew 5:48 means

"Be growing toward perfection."

In today's society, the Church, is allowing the world's views to infiltrate and contaminate the truth of the Bible.

God is not OK with us choosing a sinful lifestyle.

The Bible tells us to be wholesome and pure. It tells us to reject ungodliness.

God even says:

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:22

HOW Can we Do it?

Answer:

God gives us POWER to change.

-

What do we need to change from?

Here are some examples from the Bible:

Let there be no sex sin, impurity

or greed among you.

Let no one be able to accuse you of any such things.

Dirty stories, foul talk, and coarse jokes -

these are not for you.

Instead remind each other
of God's goodness and be thankful.

Ephesians 5:3-4 TLB

Will you proclaim with the following with me?

God says that I am the righteousness of Christ,
and I will ACT like it!

2 Corinthians 5:21

Prayer of Dedication

Lord of all Creation,

You are worthy.

You are worthy of my time. You are worthy of my attention. You are worthy of my devotion.

I will live my life for you.

Amen

The Trinity

Jesus is part of the Trinity of God.
God is three persons but only one God.

Jesus is and has always been God.

When Jesus came to earth, he became a man.

Jesus lived on earth as 100% God and 100% man.
