These Christian Marriage Vows establish
a marriage
based on Biblical values
while they add
splashes of romance
into your wedding celebration.
Hi, I'm Beth McLendon, your host for Inspirational-Prayers.
I love weddings and I love marriage.
One of my favorite things to do is help couples
to create a great relationship
by teaching them how to draw closer to each other
and how to draw closer to God.
I am sharing the following
Christian wedding vows
that I wrote
in hopes that they will inspire couples
to greater heights of marital happiness.
Most weddings begin with music. (Ideas at the bottom of this page.)
Begin by playing the song or songs selected to be played before the Bride walks down the aisle.
Next, play the song that the Bride walks down to.
You may want to have special words from the Bride's father, and you may want to consider special candle lighting.
We now have the Bride and Groom standing before the pastor.
(Note that the vows will use B (Bride) for the Bride's name and G (Groom) for the Groom's name.)
Christian Marriage Vows
Pastor says:
Today we are here to join B and G in holy matrimony. B and G want to welcome all of you to their marriage ceremony. They want to thank all of you for your love, friendship, and prayers on their behalf. B and G believe that your prayers have had an important part in bringing them together and in building their relationship.
B and G want to extend great honor to God as their special guest this day and give him praise and glory as the Lord of their lives and the Lord of their new union. B and G believe that the Lord has chosen them for each other and has led their path to this day.
Bride and Groom repeat together after the pastor:
Today is a very special day.
Long ago you were just a dream and a prayer.
Today is a day of answered prayer.
I thank Jesus for the honor of going through time with you.
Thank you for being a wonderful best friend to me.
Our future is as bright as the promises of God.
Pastor's prayer
Then
Pastor says to Groom:
Do you ________, take _______to be your lawfully wedded wife - to have and to hold from this day forward till death do you part?
Groom says:
I do
Pastor says and Groom repeats:
I, _______ take you ________ to be my wife and my best friend from this day forward
to love and to honor and to cherish,
in easy times and in hard times
until death do us part.
My heart will always be tender toward you and tender toward God.
Pastor says to Bride:
Do you _________, take ________ to be your lawfully wedded husband - to have and to hold from this day forward till death do you part?
Bride says:
I do
Pastor says and Bride repeats:
I, _______
take you ________, to be my husband and my best friend from this day forward
to love and to honor and to cherish,
in easy times and in hard times
until death do us part.
My heart will always be tender toward you and tender toward God.
Rings
Groom and Bride are receiving rings
Groom repeats after the pastor:
As I give you this ring, I pledge my love to you.
You are
my best friend.
Today I give myself to you in marriage.
I promise to encourage and inspire you,
to listen to you and to laugh with you,
to trust you and appreciate you,
to share my thoughts with you and dream with you
to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle
to respect and delight in your uniqueness,
as we build our lives together.
May we build a home that is pleasing to God
with an atmosphere of peace, love, and compassion.
Bride repeats after the pastor:
As I give you this ring, I pledge my love to you.
You are
my best friend.
Today I give myself to you in marriage.
I promise to encourage and inspire you,
to listen to you and to laugh with you,
to trust you and appreciate you,
to share my thoughts with you and dream with you
to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle
to respect and delight in your uniqueness,
as we build our lives together.
May we build a home that is pleasing to God
with an atmosphere of peace, love, and compassion.
Pastor says:
Forasmuch as ______ and _______have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, by the authority committed unto me as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I declare that _______ and _______ are now Husband and Wife, according to the ordinance of God, and the law of the State of ___________: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Pastor says:
I present Mr. and Mrs. ______________.
I pray this scripture over ___________(Bride and Groom)
Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV
"The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you; T
he Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace." '
Now that your beautiful Christian marriage vows
are complete,
you add your closing music.
And the Kiss!
This page
also has some ideas for music for your wedding.
But first,
here is an idea that I thought was really sweet.
If you like the Christian marriage vows that I posted,
I encourage you to add
to these Christian marriage vows
so that you have what you consider the "perfect" wedding!
In addition to your Christian marriage vows,
also carefully consider what music you want for your wedding.

Consider adding a song that has a special meaning
for your relationship with each other or your relationship with God.
Here are more wedding songs - I did not listen to all of these
