with an earthly view of life

instead of a

heavenly - minded view of life.

Most people spend

years, decades, and some their whole life,

running after

the things

that Solomon ran after..... 

and Solomon got ALL of them.

And

Solomon found they were dead ends.

You cannot make sense of life apart from

God and an eternal perspective.

God deliberately built a system

of earthly life

that ends up being

meaningless and empty...

without

focusing on

a living, active, knowable God

to whom we must

one day give an account.

Ecclesiastes chapters 4-6

Wealth cannot satisfy.

It only makes you hungry for more.

At the first of the book,

Solomon

did not believe in an eternity

where God would judge him

for his actions.

So eternity was not influencing him.

Perhaps his pagan wives were influencing his view of what happens after you die.

The road of life

that ignores death and eternity

turns out to be

the most dangerous place of all

because

it is filled with traps.

Ecclesiastes chapters 7-9

The only way

this world makes sense

is in light of

eternity.

The rich and cruel man

can get

the best of life

and die an old man - 

while the good man

can be plagued

with

problems, pain, and poverty.

BUT -

there is

true justice in eternity.

There is no point

to life

other than

through the perspective of

eternity.

I want to emphasize

a point that

David Guzik did not emphasize enough.

Most of you are wondering...

How did the

wisest man on earth,

make such

incredibly

unwise choices?

Answer:

The 

Power of Sin

-

Solomon WAS the wisest man

BUT

he did not

continually dedicate himself to

obedience

to God. 

Disobedience

can even override

wisdom.

We are in a dangerous place

when we think that

we are exempt from

sin 

because of our

wisdom.

Beware 

Do not underestimate the

POWER of YOUR

Sinful Desires.

“Sin will -  take you farther

than you ever expected to go;

it will  - keep you longer

than you ever intended to stay,

and it will  - cost you more

than you ever expected to pay.”

Obedience

to God's Word

Jesus said,

first and most importantly

seek

(aim at, strive after)

God's kingdom and His righteousness

[His way of doing and being right —

the attitude and character of God],

When we enter eternity

life will

make sense.

I will now present

the conclusion of the book.

Most people live each day

as though

God doesn't really matter.

They live each day - -  without even thinking

about God.

Yet, we will one day face God.

And....

As David Guzik said,

"After this life, God will not ask you if you followed your heart."
