Jesus said,
"If you love me, feed my sheep."
Loving God includes feeding His sheep:
Physical Food
and
Spiritual Food
John chapter 21
After his resurrection, Jesus appeared many times to people before he went up into heaven to stay.
During one of those times, Jesus was having a conversation with Peter - one of the 12 disciples.
It is found in John chapter 21 starting with verse 15.
Three times during that conversation, Jesus asked Peter the question, "Do you love me?"
Each time Peter said, "Yes, Lord. You know I love you."
After the first time, Jesus said, "Then feed my lambs."
After the second and third times, Jesus said, "Then feed my sheep."
Jesus used two different words that we translate "feed."
In the first and third time, Jesus used the Greek word
# 1006 in Strong's. It means "feed" but it also contains the idea of promoting spiritual growth.
The second time he used a Greek word, he used the word that is listed in Strong's as # 4165 . This word has a stronger connotation to feeding actual food - like fish or bread that we put in our mouth.
Jesus is talking to us today.
During those three exchanges with Peter,
Jesus tells Peter and he tells us -
that "if we love him" we are:
This is a good time to do a check-up on ourselves.
Physical Food
There are many food banks and food ministries
that would love our help.
Spiritual Food
Most adults are not actively
feeding their lambs spiritual food.

We do not want to go to heaven and realize
that we did not teach our little children and teens
about Jesus.
-
That would pierce our heart.
But it will be too late then.

Let's throw off the past,
and get a new fresh start!

Let's not forget those words in our own life,
and let's not forget to teach this concept
