Prayer for Fasting

Music and Prayer

As we abstain from food,

we feel hunger pains.

~

I believe that the pain

is best used

to remind me that

when I sin,

I cause God discomfort as he grieves. 

The Bible tells us that by our actions,

we can grieve the Holy Spirit of God.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,

by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:30 NKJV

First Prayer

Heavenly Shepherd,

I draw close to you today. 

I want to get as close to you as I can.

May my soul

come into greater unity

with you today.

Lord, receive my fasting

as a sweet, fragrant gift to you.

In Love and Devotion I pray,

Amen

Shepherd of my Soul,

You are Lord of my life.

I come today fasting food

in order to show you

great honor and genuine dedication.

You have saved me and I am yours.

You are worthy of my focused attention.

You are worthy of my highest praise.

You are worthy of a lifetime of my devotion.

Lord,

I come today to honor you.

Lord,

I will give you my life.

Holy Spirit,

Lead me.

More than Anything,

I want Your Presence.

Lord,

I want a deeper spiritual communion with you.

 So through Jesus we should never stop offering
our sacrifice to God.
That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak his name.

And don’t forget to do good
and to share
what you have with others,
because sacrifices like these are very pleasing to God.
