Almighty God,
You are the God of Justice.
You hate stealing, lying, and cheating.
You hate the acts of those who pervert justice.
Look to my righteous cause. Bring me swift justice.
Hear my cry.
Come and quickly rescue me from those who are against me.

Thank you that your Word encourages me by telling me that you love justice.

Psalm 146:9b TLB -
But he [God] turns topsy turvy the plans of the wicked.
Psalm 12:5 TLB -
The Lord replies, "I will arise and defend the oppressed, the poor, the needy.
I will rescue them as they have longed for me to do."
Thank you, Lord,
that you encourage us
to stand up and pursue justice in prayer.
God's Advice:
Keep on Asking
Luke 11:5-13
And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?
I
say to you, though he will not rise and give to him
because he is his
friend, yet because of his persistence
he will rise and give him as many
as he needs.
Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking
So I say to you, ask,
and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks
receives,
and he who seeks
finds,
and to him who knocks it will be opened.
If a son asks for bread from any father among you,
will he give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?
Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the
Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

Wednesday
God not only wants godly blessings for you,
He wants godliness in you.
Wednesday continued:
How to Cultivate the right Attitudes and Behavior
as we go through unjust situations.
God hates injustice. God wants justice in your situation.
Nevertheless, as he looks at your situation, he also wants you to grow spiritually through this situation.
He wants you to grow in your love toward those
who are being unjust to you.
_____
Love your enemies,
bless those who curse you,
do good to those who hate you,
and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
Matthew 5:44 NKJV
______
God wants to purify us.
God wants us to cooperate with him to purify us.
We need to do our part to purify ourselves
as we seek justice from him.
Consider:
What if God wants to use this situation to change you
and
help you to become more like Jesus?
~ ~ ~
Consider:
What if
God is waiting to give you justice
until
you have conqueror-ed
some of the
impure attitudes and behaviors rooted in your heart?
Merciful Lord,
I come before you thanking you and praising you for all the blessings that you have flowed into my life.
You are loving and kind to me.
I also come before your throne seeking your hand of justice to overcome the schemes of evil that are currently attacking me.
I ask for victory over the demonic schemes that are attempting to steal justice from me.
I
also ask for victory over the demonic schemes that are tempting me to
draw my heart into sinful emotions such as resentment, strife,
unforgiveness, pride, and retaliation.
I ask for wisdom.
I ask that you would give me wisdom to know what to do in my situation and how to do it.
I dedicate myself to making godly decisions.
As I move through this trial, I ask that you would help me to grow the fruit of the spirit in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
I ask that you would enlarge my capacity to love my enemies.
I ask that you would remind me to obey you by yielding to you when you nudge me to pray for my enemies.
I ask that you would increase my motivation to pray for my enemies.
As I move through this situation, I declare that I will read your Word and speak words of wisdom, truth, and love.
Throughout this situation, I will focus on the goal of becoming more Christ-like.
Thank you for your help, Lord.
Amen

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego
walked out of the fiery furnace,
and they
didn't even smell like smoke.
God doesn't want you to smell like smoke.
In the third chapter of Daniel, we find ourselves in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden statue that he wanted everyone to worship. Anyone who didn't worship the image would be thrown into a burning furnace.
In verse 12, we find out that three Jewish men - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego - refused to bow to the image or to any of the foreign gods. King Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown into the furnace and had the furnace turned up hotter than usual. Yet a miracle occurred, and they were not burned. And a fourth person was seen in the flames!
When King Nebuchadnezzar saw that the three men were not burned, he took them out of the furnace.
At this point, as if the story was not magnificent enough, we find in verse 27, the amazing fact that the three men had none of their hair singed (scorched), nor their garments touched by the fire, and even the smell of smoke was not on them.
The three men walked out of the trial without any reminders of the difficulties that could have been a part of this earthly trial.
Application
There are many applications that a person could get from this story. The one I want to highlight is taken from the fact that: there was no sign that they had been in a fire, including the fact that they didn't even smell like smoke.
God wants us to be able to go through trials and troubles and when He takes us out of them, we are not left with any smoke on us. We are not left with bitterness, anger, resentment, vengeful thoughts, unhealed emotions, etc.
God wants us to be able to testify to God's grace through the trial without also smelling like smoke. People can easily smell our bitterness, anger, resentment, etc.
When God rescues us from a trial, He wants us to exit the trial free of any negative things that have tried to attach to us. To God, handling the trial is not just getting through it. He wants us to get through it with our character deepened and our heart more tender than when we entered the trial.
He wants us to be free of negative emotions toward other people and toward him. He wants us to walk in the freedom of forgiveness, and in the fruit of the spirit - Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
That is going to take some work on our part. For one thing, most of us will have to learn HOW
to pray for our enemies and how to forgive them. I have written a page
called which addresses this concept. It will help you to work on your
emotions while going through a trial and coming out of a trial. I also
have several pages on how to forgive. See the Bible Devotion page for all of them.
This highlighted Bible story is uplifting, and
I encourage you to read it today.
Note:
This mini-devotional was first given on my blog page.
Do you
Smell like Smoke?
Friday
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego
said to the king,
"Even if God does not deliver us,
we will not bow and worship an idol."
When we are going through an unjust situation,
God wants us to learn several lessons from
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.
God is a good and loving Father.
He cares about everything that happens to us.
Yet he cares about the most important things
more
than the less important things.
God knows that developing godly character is
more important
than getting justice.
____
God wants us to stand up
and say with conviction:
Even if this situation never gets resolved with justice,
I will still continue to serve the Lord with gladness,
and I will resist keeping any smoke in my life.
I will remove all smoke of resentment, bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, and strife. I will remember that God will make all things right when I get to heaven.
If my justice doesn't come in this life,
God will give me what is due me in heavenly currency.
While on earth, I will learn to love my enemies
just as
the Lord has asked me to do.
Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered
and said to the king,
“O
Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need
to answer you in this matter.
If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace,
and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.
But
if not,
let it be known to you, O king,
that we do not serve your gods,
nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
