more than they fear God.

Lead me, Lord.

I will follow you.

Prayers for Pastors dealing with Stress

Father,

I feel lonely. I feel weary.

I'm the shepherd but sometimes I just want to be one of the sheep.

Sometimes I long for someone to come alongside ME  to refresh me and help me see things in a new way.

Even so, Lord, I will trust you. I will wait for you to help me.

Thank you for providing for my every need.

Wisdom for Reducing Stress

The Bible tells us:

Huge crowds of people came to hear Jesus teach
and to ask Jesus to heal them.
BUT
Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness to pray.

- - - -

How could Jesus turn his back on people who needed him?

Answer:

Sometimes we have to say "No" to something good,

in order to do the best thing.

Jesus followed the wisdom of his Heavenly Father

even if it meant saying, "No." to needy people.

Father God,

As a shepherd, I sometimes feel a pull to always be on duty.

Wisdom says that even Jesus went away from needy crowds to rest and renew himself. 

If Jesus needed it, then how much more will I need it!

Help me to realize when I need to rest.

Teach me to rest.

Help me to realize when I need to spend time building up myself.

Teach me to wisely give time to my own spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs.

Help me to realize when I need to put my family before pastoral requests.

Teach me to generously nurture my family.

Lord, I ask for wisdom to know the right thing to do and strength to do the right thing.

In Jesus' name I pray,

Another Prayer for dealing with Stress

Lord,

I want to hide out  - away from all the demands, all the conflicts, and all the pressures.

Take me to your hiding place.

I come as a son to my loving Father.

Shelter me, Father. Shelter me this day.

Let me find rest in you.

Amen

I want to alert you that

some Bible teachers are saying

that God is -  not -  interested

in us pursuing

Holiness.

Your members are probably being influenced
by this teaching.

Those who reject holiness are obviously not reading the words of Jesus
in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.

The only church
that truly pleased Jesus was the Philadelphia church.
The reason was that they
"kept the word of God and didn't deny his name."

Those in Philadelphia were trying to be obedient.

Jesus knew their hearts.

When Jesus addressed the other churches,

he often used harsh words

concerning the sinning

that was going on in the churches.

Let's remind ourselves that

Jesus said,

If any man will come after me,

let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 16:24

If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me,

you are not worthy of being mine.

Matthew 10:37-38

We will never feel accepted and comfortable in the Father's arms

if we are running from our sins.

Lord,

You are challenging me 

to come up higher in obedience to you.

I will follow you.

Amen

Lord,

You are the great and mighty God.

You are altogether lovely.

You are altogether merciful.

You are altogether holy.

Lord, teach me how to embrace holy, righteous living.

Teach me how to walk in integrity and godliness.

Teach me how to please you no matter if it displeases others.

Teach me how to face my errors and my sins.

Teach me how to get up when I fall down.

Teach me how to endure and seek your strength when I feel weak.

Teach me how to more fully receive and enjoy your amazing, awesome, all-encompassing love for me.

And help me to powerfully and compassionately share with my flock the insights you give me.

May my thoughts and actions be pleasing to you, and may my life inspire my family and my flock.

Morning Motivational Prayer

Taken from our Blog entry of November 9, 2014

Lord of my heart,

I value you, and I value your Word.

Your Word tells me to love and bless other people. Your will is for me to view everyone in my life as valuable. You want me to honor people and treat them with respect every day.

I receive my mission to love people this day. I receive my mission to be helpful toward their needs, compassionate toward their hurts, encouraging toward their trials, enthusiastic toward their victories, warm toward their presence, and forgiving toward their mistakes and sins.

Change my heart, Lord. Teach me to be more like you.

I will yield to you this day.

Lord,

When I am down, you comfort me.

When I am down, you are the One who raises me up, so I can stand on mountains.
