Psalm 101:3
Inspiration
"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes."
Psalm 101:3a KJV
~
God wants us to examine ourselves.
God wants us to become more like Jesus.
One of my favorite Bible verses is:
"Follow God’s example in everything you do
just as a much loved child imitates his father."
Ephesians 5:1 TLB
-
You are God's much loved child.

God was not careless in how he drew
the lines of morality.
May we not be careless
in how we interpret his commands.
Beth McLendon
The Bible says that
David was a man after God's own heart.
David wrote -
"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test my thoughts.
Point out anything
you find in me
that
makes you sad,
and lead me
along the path of everlasting life."
Psalm 139:23-24 TLB
Psalm 139 also speaks of God's great love for us.
Are we pleasing God by what we view?
"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes."
Entertainment
such as Movies and T.V. shows
are more and more
portraying
ungodly themes
including ungodly sexuality.
This type of entertainment is
becoming common.
And it appears to me that
Christians are becoming less careful
about what we view.
Ephesians 5:3 TLB reminds us,
"Let there be no sex sin,
impurity,
or greed among you.
Let no one be able to accuse you of any such things.
Dirty stories,
foul talk and coarse jokes -
these are not for you."

for those who want to please God.
Lying
In this day and time,
lying
is being portrayed as funny.
ALSO
Lying
is portrayed as
the smart way to:
get what you want
- or -
get out of consequences.
What we watch
influences
us.
We need to be careful
what we watch and the music we listen to.
People who want to please God
stay away from lying.
For examples and inspiration, see our page:
God says...
"Whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble,
whatever
things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and if there is anything
praiseworthy -
meditate on these things."
Philippians 3:8 NKJV
Stop watching ungodly entertainment?
?
The Response of some people to that idea is:
BUT - I won't be popular.
After all the WHOLE World is doing it!
God's Answer is
in 1 John.
1 John 2:15
reminds us that
Christians are not to love the world
or the things in the world.
Verses 15-17 say:
"Stop loving this evil
world
and all that it offers you,
for when you love these things
you show that you do not really love God;
16 for all these worldly things, these evil desires—
the craze for sex,
the ambition to buy everything that appeals to you,
and the
pride
that comes from wealth and importance—
these are not from God.
They are from this evil world itself.
17 And this world is fading away,
and
these evil, forbidden things will go with it,
but
whoever keeps doing the will of God will live forever."
1 John 2:15-17 TLB
Matthew 16:24 reminds us that
Jesus said if we want to follow him,
we need to pick up our cross and deny ourselves.
Satan does NOT want to entertain.
He wants to
transform people
so they act more like him.
Not only does Satan put temptations to sin in his
entertainment,
he also puts ....
blatant
in-our-face
Satanic
occult images, music, and activities...
Too many times, Christians accept (and think is harmless) the following in their entertainment - Satanic images, witches, witch craft, and activities such as satanic rituals performed in front of the camera - because we just can't believe that is what is really happening. Most people don't even know that images with one eye showing - is a satanic gesture. Zechariah 11:17 may relate to why Satan chooses to use this symbolism.
I once heard a powerful quote that said, "I will not entertain myself with the very things that put the nails in Jesus' hands and feet."
We need to teach our children
to choose the right things.
Children are imitators.
Children follow what they see.
Children follow
so we need to lead them
in the right direction.
We need to model good decisions.
Most of our churches
have forgotten to teach our children
that one of the reasons
Jesus came
was to encourage us and teach us
how to become more holy.
(More Holy - we never reach perfection)
God doesn't think
holiness is a bad word.
The church has been fooled into thinking
holiness is a bad word.
"Worship the Lord with the beauty of holiness."
Psalm 96:9
Jesus frequently taught on holiness.
Jesus did NOT teach tolerance
and other
popular ideas.
The first words of Jesus in Matthew and Mark were
REPENT.
The last advice Jesus gave to Christians
is found in
Revelation chapters 2 and 3.
And his main theme was
REPENT.
When Jesus was on earth,
he often taught groups of people.
When Jesus taught hard things,
people got up and left.
In John chapter 6 verse 66,
we read of the unhappy reaction
of one of Jesus' sermons.
The people leave,
because
they didn't like what he was teaching.
Do you want to
please God?
Do you want to be more like Jesus?
Would you pray with me?
Dear Lord,
Give me a wake-up call today
about the things
that I have been viewing and listening to
that are not godly.
Remind me
that
I cannot follow the world and follow you also.
Remind me
that
you want me to become more and more
like Jesus.
Amen
And for those who have already started
to be careful what they see...
Dear Lord,
I have been trying to please you in what I watch
and in what I do.
Even so, I want you to daily help me in this area.
If I start to watch something that is not pleasing to you, I want you to whisper to me.
I will have an open ear for your voice.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen
