Psalm 113

Psalm 113

A page of

Joyous praise and Uplifting verses.

Note:

The Jews call Psalms 113 - 118

THE HALLEL.

Hallel means Praise!

From the rising of the sun

unto the

going down of the same

the Lord's name is to be praised.

Psalm 113:3

The following song is based on the verse above.

Adonai

Adonai means "Lord" in Hebrew.

Verses 1-4

Praise ye the Lord.
Praise, O ye servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.

2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and for evermore.

3 From the rising of the sun
unto the going down of the same
the Lord's name
is to be
praised.

4 The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens.

Our God is Awesome!

Who can compare?

In the Hebrew Language...

El - Elyon = God Most High or  The Most High God

El Shaddai = All Sufficient One or Almighty God

Elohai = My God

Adon Olam = Lord of the World or Eternal Lord

Song - "Who can Compare" by Paul Wilbur

Yeshua = Jesus in Hebrew

Yeshua means "Salvation" in Hebrew

Verse 5

Who is like unto the Lord our God,

who dwelleth on high,

Who is like you, O God?

There are many ways to answer that question.

And -

There are many ways to explore
the unique wonders of God.

Below is an example
of a song
in which a composer has sought to highlight

the greatness of our God.

There is none like our God.

The Jews normally do not spell out the vowels

in the names of God

in order to show respect for God.

So we see in this song, they write G-d and L-rd.

~

Yahweh = God in Hebrew

Yahweh is the special name of God
that
the Jews
never uttered.

It can be spelled different ways.

The next song

is a traditional Jewish prayer that says:

Who is like you, O Lord?

And the story acted out

is

Matthew 25

The 5 Wise Virgins.

Who is Like the Lord

If you visit a Jewish Congregation, you will probably hear

the words to the song above.

The name of it is...

The Mi Kamocha

*It can be spelled in multiple ways.

Note for clarity:

Who is like You, O God, among the [false] gods that are worshipped?

Exodus 15:11 NKJV

“Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Psalm 89:6 NKJV

For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord?

Psalm 71:19 NKJV

Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high,
You who have done great things;
O God, who is like You?

Isaiah 40:18 NKJV

To whom then will you liken God?
Or what likeness will you compare to Him?

Verses 6-9

 These next verses are connected

to verse 5.

They expand the verse 5 question:

Who is like the Lord?

Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

God humbles himself

to behold

(to look upon)

things and people he has made.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

Part 1 of verse 7:

God raises the poor out of the dust....

The word translated "poor" can mean - low, poor, weak, thin, one who is low

So God raises up to his people to greater strength.

In all ways, God is able to touch the weak areas in our life.

For example:

God strengthens those who are financially poor, physically weak, emotionally weak, or mentally weak.

Often God uses the verses in Ephesians to help us to put on the Full Armor of God and seek to draw strength from God.

Part 2 of verse 7

God lifts the needy out of the dunghill.....

The word translated "dunghill" can mean - ash heap, refuse heap, dung-hill and for us we would normally render that (manure pile).

The word translated "lift" is not the same word that is translated "raised". Lift here has the idea of exalting or lifting a person up high.

So those Christians

who feel as though

they are in the manure pile at the current time,

can take note that

God is going to lift them up

to a place of esteem

as they seek to be obedient to God even in the rough times.

That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

Verse 8 is tied to part 2 of verse 7.

God lifts up his people and gives them opportunities

to connect with the "princes of God."

As we are faithful to him,

he will often give us opportunities to

meet and fellowship

with some of his most faithful ones.

Below is

More on the verse 8 idea about being

"With Princes"

Below

I give an example when God honored me with working with

one of God's most faithful and gifted servants.

A man who loves the Lord and is a Prince of the Lord.

An Example

I remember when

I was teaching preschool children in a Christian School.

The maintenance man was

an award-winning singer

who never really got involved

with the Christian Music Business.

He stayed a humble maintenance servant of the Lord.

And I enjoy remembering

when he would sing to God

in the preschool bathroom in my room

as he was fixing my toilet.

And I enjoy remembering

when he was singing to God in my classroom

as he was fixing my table leg.

* * *

During those times,

I looked up to heaven and said in my heart,

"God, you have honored me

to be here in this room

listening to one of your greatest singers.

Thank you so much."

When this man left our school to work for another school,
we had an assembly.

Children all the way up to seniors in high school

were emotionally upset that this

beloved man was leaving.

Many teens were crying

because this man had personally ministered to them

with his love and his prayers.

To explain - When someone would express a need to him,

this humble man of God

would stop - right in his tracks - and pray for that person.

We continue with

verse

9

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

God is our Creator.

Every child is a beautiful gift from God.

The Word of God is Powerful.

If I wanted to get pregnant,

I would pray this verse regularly.

There is no guarantee - but I know in my life

that

speaking out the Word of God

has been a source of Great Miracles & Blessings from God.

Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun

unto the going down of the same

the Lord's name is to be praised.
