Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised

In the city of our God,

In His holy mountain.

The City of the Great King

is

Jerusalem.

Most of us have a warm spot in our heart for our home town. 

Jews who love God

have a warm spot in their heart

for Jerusalem -

even if they have never been there.

    and cherish
even the dust in her streets.

Psalm 48:1-2 ESV

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
    in the city of our God!
His holy mountain,

² beautiful in elevation,
    is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
    the city of the great King.

Note about verse 2 - Jerusalem is up in elevation.

As we have heard, so have we seen

  in the city of the Lord of hosts,

in the city of our God,

    which God will establish forever.

 God has begun

bringing the Jews

back home to Israel

from around the world.

God has been bringing the Jews back

to Israel

for decades now.

God is regathering his people - just as he said he would.
