Psalm 67
verse 1
Monday
Today we will highlight
verse 1
and
The Aaronic Benediction.
God be merciful unto us, and bless us;
and cause his face to shine upon us;
Selah.

Verse 1
is
basically
Numbers 6:24-26.
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Numbers 6:24-26
The Jews call these words the
Aaronic Blessing
because Aaron (Moses' brother)
was the High Priest
who would speak it over the people.
See below...
Numbers 6:22-27
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying,
Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,
24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord lift up his countenance[a] upon you and give you peace.
27 “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel,
and I will bless them.”
In our present day,
the
Aaronic Blessing
is often spoken
in Jewish services as a blessing to the congregation.
The Messianic Congregation
(they believe in Jesus as Savior)
I have often attended,
says the
Aaronic Blessing in Hebrew and then in English
at the end of each service.
-
Many people
have also put its words
into songs.
Here is a
Beautiful version.
The Aaronic Blessing
is a beautiful
Bible blessing.
Consider
often
speaking it over
your children and grandchildren.
This child has heard it so much,
she can say it herself.

Verse 2
2 That thy way may be known upon earth,
thy saving health among all nations.
The Hebrew word translated "nation" means all nations and it emphasizes those who do not know God.
In this verse, God is directly reaching out to all the world with his love and salvation.
When you deeply love God, you want everyone to know him and love him. That is what is expressed when the psalmist says, "That thy way may be known upon earth."
Yeshuah
The Hebrew word translated "saving health" is "Yeshuah."
The word includes both salvation from hell and also being saved from the troubles of this world.
In verse 2 the word translated "saving health" is
Strong's Hebrew word 03444.
Bible translators see that word
and then
translate it into English
with words such as
salvation,
help, deliverance,
health, saving, welfare, prosperity, or victory.
It is most often translated simply
"Salvation."
And note:
This word
- Strong's Hebrew 3444 -
is the name
> > > Jesus < < <
in Hebrew.
In Bible times,
when people were calling out to Jesus, they said, "Yeshuah."
When Jesus came, the fullness of grace had come.
Titus 2:11-12 NKJV says,
"For the grace of God that brings salvation
has appeared to all men,
teaching us that,
denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly, righteously, and godly
in the present age,
looking for
the blessed hope and glorious appearing
of our
great God and Savior Jesus Christ."

Verses 3 - 5
Praise to God!
Praise!
3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
4 O
let the nations be glad and sing for joy:
for thou shalt judge the
people righteously, and
govern the nations upon earth.
Selah.
5 Let the people praise thee, O God;
let all the people praise thee.
Two times in verse 3 and two times in verse 5, we see the Strong's Hebrew word # 3034 which is translated "praise."
There are several Hebrew words that we translate as the English word "praise."
This one is not just talking about
an outward action
but also an inward intention.
It indicates
that there is a heart dedication
not just some verbal words.
Also,
these verses remind me of Psalm 117
in that
like Psalm 117,
this verse is referring to ALL the nations.
God wants ALL the nations
to turn to him
and
love and serve him.
Verse 4
Here God reminds us that he judges us correctly and he governs us correctly. He knows all hearts and he knows how to be our guide.
God is all we need,
but we must voluntarily
turn to him.
God humbly comes to us
imploring us to listen to him and follow him.
God is the King of All the earth
but he doesn't force his Lordship on us.
The word translated
"praise"
doesn't just mean to say something nice.
It means to confess that God is God and then praise him.
These verses are speaking of
a longing in God's heart
for all the nations to confess him as their God.
God wants EACH of us to
willingly
let him
REIGN
as King of Kings and Lord of Lords
of OUR life.

Verses 6 - 7
6 Then shall the earth yield her increase;
and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
We all want increase.
But
most want
increase
without
"thanksgiving to God"
Increase
without gratitude to God
can create
a stubbornly selfish and proud people.
I remember Charles Stanley saying decades ago
that most people
cannot live with affluence and stay close to God.
It matters what we do.
It matters how we act.
Nations that respect God
are abundantly blessed.
Nations that
don't respect God
are not abundantly blessed.
For many years,
the United States of America
has been
throwing God out of
our halls of government, our schools, our entertainment,
and even some of our churches.
More and more churches
are doubting the Bible
and turning away
from what it teaches.
-
As the serpent
in the garden
said
in Genesis 3:1,
"Did God REALLY say....?"
Today, even churches are saying...
Did God REALLY say ...
Marriage is one man and one woman.
No sex before marriage.
Life begins at conception.
There are two genders.
?
If we can change God's words,
then we can change what is sin.
The blessing of the Lord
comes upon the
nation
who loves and respects God.
Blessed is the nation
whose God is the Lord,
Psalm 33:12 a NKJV
7 God shall bless us;
and all the ends of the earth shall
Fear Him.
Fear God
and
keep His commandments,
for this
is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
The Fear of the Lord leads to life.
So that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.
Proverbs 19:23 NASB
The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7 NIV
The modern church needs to start talking about
Fear of the Lord.

Have you ever seen
rebellious young children
who have no fear of their parents?
?
It is a terrible sight.
Seeing a
3 or 4 year old
kicking a parent in the knee
or
shouting curse words at parents or other adults
is horrifying.
Children
who do not have a
proper fear of their loving parent
become terrors.
Teachers dread them.
Society rejects them.
And worse yet,
these children face many untold dangers
of getting hurt
because of the great rebellion in their heart.
